NCF Blues Society Presents: Mud Morganfield with Little Mike & The Tornadoes

The North Central Florida Blues Society is excited to bring Mud Morganfield to Gainesville to play the incredible listening room at the Heartwood Soundstage. The eldest son of the immortal Muddy Waters, Mud Morganfield has followed in his beloved dad's mammoth footsteps, staunchly keeping the traditional Chicago Blues flame alight

by faithfully singing Muddy's songs as well as plenty of his own originals in front of an all-star band of Chicago's heavy-hitters.

He won a Blues Music Award in 2014 in collaboration with harmonica ace Kim Wilson (Fabulous Thunderbirds), for the album For Pops-A Tribute to Muddy Waters. Everything in Mud's musical life traces directly back to his father. “I was born in the blues, man. I used to have to tap music on the side of my head before I went to sleep. I've had music running through my being all my life, since I've been here.” Morganfield launched his music career in blues clubs on the south side of Chicago, where he performed a mix of his father's material and his own original works. "I started to sing to show the world that dad left me here. I love and am proud to sing his songs just like I love and will always be proud of him. I'm not Muddy Waters and I'm certainly not trying to be Muddy Waters. I'm Mud Morganfield, but when I'm up on stage I always feel Pops is there with me and it means so much that I can get on stage and keep his music alive around the world."
